About Us
Growing up, Gregg would take backpacking trips through the Sierras with his dad. Those trips were his first real exposure to all of the natural beauty California has to offer. He pursued an education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, receiving a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture. After graduation, Gregg returned to work in construction for his brother’s general contracting company, Hoffman & Associates. His various responsibilities included framing, masonry, concrete, plumbing, stucco, carpentry and landscaping. The heavy construction experience Gregg gained during this job would serve him well in his future enterprises.
Gregg and Gina married in 1994, and by 1995 they were ready to embark on two big adventures: starting a family and owning their own landscaping business. Over the last twenty-five years, both their businesses and their family have grown. Now with five kids, as the US Licensee of WWOO Concrete Outdoor Kitchen, and Gina as Team Leader of the Hoffman Group, what remains the same are the values and principles that the company brings to every project: Outside Matters. The name of the company itself reflects their mission to building a lifestyle that combines aesthetics, sustainability and usability for every client
With Gregg out in the field, creating beautiful outdoor spaces for South Bay residents and concrete outdoor kitchens throughout the United States, and Gina selling and leasing residential and commercial properties, Outside Matters and the Hoffman Family have flourished. They work together on small residential projects and large commercial plans alike, with their daughter Mary, an architectural designer, creating design plans in-house for Outside Matters clients as well. It is truly a family business. Outside Matters is pioneering efforts in sustainable green roof and wall installations and is trailblazing know-how to build these impressive gardens more effectively and efficiently. With passion, know-how and hard work, Outside Matters brings clients to the cutting-edge of high-end landscape technology and trends, helping them realize their outdoor visions from start to finish.
